OUR VISION
- To Unleash The Food Potential Of Uganda
OUR VALUES
- Just - Permitting others to deserve the best of you.
- Productive - Time taken to create meaningful value.
- Orderly - Choosing the most efficient and effective means of achieving a pre-determined outcome.
Our story
Agriculture Industry leaders under their respective sub-domains identified five (5) key cross cutting challenges that require urgent intervention
- Industry actors work in silos, hindering collaboration and coordination.
- The cost of doing business in the agricultural sector is high, limiting profitability and promoting substandard inputs, products and services across the supply chain.
- The regulatory framework and policy implementation in the sector are inadequate.
- Counterfeits pose significant threats to the quality and safety of agricultural products, in addition to food security.
- Apex Industry bodies and associations lack visibility and clear relevance to their members.
To address these challenges, the Chairpersons of The Grain Council of Uganda (TGCU), Uganda Seed Trade Association (USTA), BUNTU Community International (BCI), Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE), Uganda Veterinary Association (UVA), Uganda National Agro-input Dealers Association (UNADA) and CropLife Uganda (CLU) formed the Agriculture Leadership (AGRIL) Committee that has since transformed into the AGRIL Alliance.
The AGRIL Alliance therefore brings together like-minded private sector leaders across the agriculture value chain to deliberate, find and act on solutions to cross-cutting issues that deter the growth and development of the sector in Uganda. To that end, the Alliance aims to stimulate the quality, productivity, production and profitability of member products and services and to create a recognizable voice to engage Government of Uganda (GOU) on issues that require policy reform in order to create a better environment for agribusiness to thrive.
Our Objectives
In order to maximize Uganda’s agribusiness potential, the AGRIL Alliance shall seek to achieve the following objectives:
- Address key constraints and activate opportunities for agriculture development
- Provide collaborative leadership in stimulating the quality, productivity, production and profitability of member products and services.
- Carry out research and provide big data to advance agribusiness.
- Become a visible and respected advocacy, communication, trade, climate action, networking and knowledge platform for agriculture leaders to ensure sustainable growth and business continuity.
- Build trust, strategic partnerships and a culture of goodwill between AGRIL Alliance members, associates and the wider business and development community – nationally, regionally, and internationally.
